Grinding helps, but is not necessary. I don't grind a bit and I have all that I need and more so. I don't think this is a very big issuse for the most part, but I do sum what agree. The people who grind ARE going to do better than people who don't as far as money. They are also spending a lot more time on it probably too.

As for new characters working forever to get armors/weapons, welcome to the game. Its not gana flop into your lap unless your lucky.

Having the best and the strongest stuff helps, but it does NOT make the character. Player ability is just as important as equipment.

even if u do all quests, all missions, etc, u not gonna have enough money to buy new weapons or even keys

with my 1st char, i did everything (all quests, missions without running) when i got to ROF...all i had was 5-6 plat....so r u tryin to say its a chit load of money??? i dont think so...all i can do is buy 10 keys and I'm broke!
I hate what ANET did with the chests...i pay 750 gold for a key, and I get a 250 gold staff ..WTF! if it says RARE, how come its only 250 gold?

More money to new players, means they can afford more weapons, more upgrades...not to farm 24/7 to be able to buy thier armor in Yaks

Also, if you think that a +30hp mod is so significantly superior to a +27hp mod... you're an idiot.
I like this post because I recently bought a Sundering Chaos Axe of Fortitude, Gold, Max req 9, 14%^50, 10%^9% and +28 health for 20k...The same axe, 15%^50, 10%/10% and 30 health, 350k....whats the deal? Maybe people that play less can't go aruond flaunting the PERFECT CHAOS AXE but I can go around saying I have a near perfect and it works the same for farming or missions

Meh. Whenever I've started new characters, they've been able to pay for themselves. I only get armor in Ascalon City, Ventari's Refuge/Henge of Denravi, and Droknar's because the small differences in armor level at other places is completely unnecessary if you have a decent amount of skill.

By the time I finish with everything in pre-searing (I usually leave with about 1k) I can afford everything I need for Ascalon City armor. Then it's way easy to salvage crap for materials and sell drops for enough money to buy bags and runes of holding along the way to Ventari's/Henge for more armor, as there's a lot of areas between there. And after that, you've got the second part of Kryta as well as the whole desert to save up for Droknar's armor.

Quest reward and collector weapons are also more than good enough to use in PvE. So you don't have to spend any money on those.

Beyond armor, bags/runes of holding, and ID/salvage kits, you really don't have any necessary expenses. Even most superior runes are dirt cheap anymore. All you have to do is pick up and sell/salvage all your drops that you won't use, avoid pissing away money on things like keys, and you'll have plenty of gold for everything you need.

Besides, ArenaNet has already added gold rewards to some quests.

On every mission would be crazy!

tanned hide squares...(probably 50g)
near perfect bow...(probably 15k)

It wouldn't solve anthing, prices would just be inflated...

Now on the Glint quests i wouldn't mind having 1k as a reward, but nothing over that...

Another thing Anet could do is offer very good weapons that cant be traded/used by any other player other than the person that completed the quest...

Making money is easy...just save your money each town/outpost. Heres how for all the people that can't figure it out"
-Don't buy new armor each town/outpost
-Don't buy a new weapon each town/outpost(theres always going to be a better one unless your into green/gold and collectors)
-Sell your spoils(when you get done a mission sell everything that you don't need)
-You could even ask around(I got 600g of someone in ascalon today)

:P

that is one of your main problems right there.

within 3 days it was all over this and other sites that for most keys you would be lucky to get back half your gold on a key.

to keep doing it when you know from experience that you will lose is...........

simple fix for all of this. Instead of so many stupid experience quests, have them reward in gold instead. Villany of Galrath for 4000 gold? Id be much more likely to do it the first time around if that were true. All those stupid small exp quests would be worth it to someone new.

That said, if your not willing to grind for a little bit to get the item you want, you couldnt have wanted it all that bad to begin with. Most of the top end items can be imitated for low cost. For example, a Vampirc Serpent Axe with max damage could cost you a fortune. but a collector axe (or better yet, one of the uncountable number of white and blue max damage axes that drop) with 5k in mods will cost you not much, and kill monsters just as good.

You dont NEED 15k armor, you dont NEED Fissure armor, heck you can trade for armor equivalent to basic droks armor just by keeping your drops and visiting merchants.

Not to mention, that if you pick up everything that drops for you in a later mission, and pick up as much stuff as you can of what others leave behind, youll get multiple plats per mission.

I disagree that a change like this would be necessary. Just because you can't afford the best equipment by simply playing through the game means next to nothing.

I've been playing now for about 5 weeks, and my wife and I have just hit Dragon's Lair. I got all I need at this point, including two full sets of Crystal Desert armor (scars and tormentor's w/Bloodstained Boots), a superior Death rune, collector's 20/20 Death staff (w/+5 defensive upgrade and +23 fortitude upgrade), and lots of dye (though I sell black the moment I get it)... and I'm still sitting on over 15k in my bank. My wife's got over 30k, but mainly because she cashed in on a lucky 20% enchant sword upgrade for 25k.

All this from just 5 weeks, and no help from anyone, except maybe knowledge I get from here at Guru. I probably wouldn't be able to afford 15k armor for a while, or sup vigor runes, or loads of black dye, etc. But I don't care. I know I will eventually, and by then, it'll be a treat. I don't need it and I don't see that anyone does, except maybe hardcore PvPers.

Later, when I've beaten through Hell's Precipice, and I want to try my hand at some harder areas, I'll concern myself with acquiring more money, be it by farming, buying/selling, offering services, w/e. Otherwise, take it from a somewhat noob that gold/plat is not as big of a deal as it seems.
